This shot is about a mile away, but you can see how low these race aircraft get, this one about 50 ft. above the ground.Race 1, rounding our pylon during a practice run.Race 55 dialing in the course around Pylon Outer One. The Tigercat was within a few feet of the pylon at about 80 feet.Very rare aircraft, early version of the German FW190. This aircraft was flown very conservatively, understandably considering the rarety of the aircraftThere are a lot of Mustangs at Reno that are modified in some way or another. This example, Lou IV, Race 16 is pure stock, other than the guns were removed.Long time competitor, Miss America. This Mustang is the first vision that pops into my mind when I think of Reno Racers and one of the prettiest paint schemes. There were two P-38 aircraft at this years Air Races. Both were display aircraft, Glacial Girl and shown here Skidoo.Late in the day, two P-38 and two F-7F aircraft took off for a special photo shoot. Here you see Skidoo banking in the late sun for rendevous with the other aircraft. One of the most popular and winningest Unlimited aircraft is Rare Bear, an highly modified F-8 Bearcat. This was the only shot I got, and bearly at that.Another shot of Miss America, Race 11 rounding our pylon during practice.Outer One Pylon is not one of the T-6 aircraft pylon, therefore I get to take some pictures during the race. This shot is of Race 88 between Home Pylon and us. This is a show of Race 90 going by our pylonHere you see Race 5, Big Red just before our pylonJust before our pylon, the T-6 aircraft begin to bank for their turn around their first pylon which is situated a couple of hundred feet beyond us. Here Race 90 and 50 bank and our pylon is showing on the right.Passing by the Home Pylon are Race 88 and 5. Often, for various reasons, runway 14 is used and here you see T-6 Race 8 taxiing by our pylon.
